Hi!

I am a User Experience (UX) Researcher, Strategist, Designer, and Storyteller.

I specialize in the transportation and civic tech domains where I identify how we can bring our society the services they need most.

Inclusive Design...

By knowing how to design for a wide range of needs, I can help grow your user base. I've honed my skills working in Government Technology where legally (and ethically) it is required to design our products and services to serve all types of users. I have deep empathy for and have designed solutions for people that are seniors, low-income, non-banked, low digital and reading literacy, English as a second language, and caretakers.

Why Transportation...

As my hero Janette Sadik-Khan, the NYC transportation commissioner says, "If you want to have an impact on people's everyday lives, you can work in sanitation or transportation." Transportation shapes social equity, environmental sustainability, and how we relate to each other. If we can make that journey better, we have made huge progress for humankind.

Products and Services...

As a service designer, I recommend the right medium to address a question or problem. This is key for when a client is uncertain what the product should be. I've worked on a wide range of tangible products from vehicular modifications, heads-up display UI, smartwatch UI, to more systematic solutions such as simplifying city's permit structure, shortening the gap between customer service departments and decision makers, or writing job descriptions so an organization can hire the skills needed. I'm a generalist who can take a holistic approach and develop a strategic point of view.

A note about collaboration...

Active listening, "Yes, and", group ideation sessions, participatory workshops, stakeholder management, and change management, are the behind-the-scenes aspects of this kind of work that is harder to capture in a polished slide deck. On my teams, I bring team-building and reflection sessions, skill sharing, and a culture of collaboration. This keeps the work moving forward in a way where people can feel empowered, supported, and resilient :)

I look forward to hearing about your project needs.

Cheers,

Lisa
