Role: UX Designer
My Process:
Heuristics
Identified the successful features as well as the product gaps that my app could fill.
Ideation
-
Collected user problems that arose during user interviews and surveys
-
Categorized pain points
-
Prioritized most common and most pressing pain points
-
Considered potential feature solutions.
Blue post-its represent user pain points.

User Flows
This flow shows the design differences for when a user signs in for the first time, and subsequent times.
Sitemap
I played with different global navigation options: "Hamburger menu" vs. persistant tabs. Since our demographic is older and less tech savvy I didn't want to hide important pages so I went with the persistant tabs. This simplified the depth of the sitemap.
Sketches
Rapid iteration
Wireframes
Determining the dashboard screen was essential before moving on to other screens. We evaluated different approaches based on user needs.
Gamification
Used the Octalysis tool to identify the behavior we want to incentivize and the methods to reward it.
User Testing
Asked users to identify moments of confusion and delight.
Clickable Prototype V1
4 Persistent Tab structure to make sure users can access all major areas of the app.
Clickable Prototype V2
Integrated an overarching gamification system using the sugar symbolism.
